This new law is on top of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, which already regulates the conduct of brokers.Mortgage Compare Plus must “prioritise their consumers’ interests” if there’s ever a conflict of interests, according to the legislation.But while Mortgage Compare Plus have to follow the Best Interests Duty – banks do not. Steve Keramidas must give his client the best possible recommendation from all the lenders on his panel. However, a bank will recommend only its own products, even if there are better alternatives.Steve acts in your best interests when recommending a home loan, and has a legal obligation to do so. Banks sell you products. Mortgage Compare Plus is dedicated to giving back not only to their clients but to the local community. A donor of the Monash Children’s Hospital since 2016, Steve has also invested himself in community youth sport programs. Understanding the importance of encouraging children to have an active and fun lifestyle, Mortgage Compare Plus also sponsored the Springvale White Eagles FC and currently sponsors South Springvale Aris FC. Steve also volunteers to coach the junior soccer team at South Springvale Aris Soccer Club.
